$5 5k - Oct. 2 - Fletcher Park


$5 5k to benefit Friends of Dupont Forest.

This will be a Blackjack 5k Format.

The amount of entries will be the "pot". You will receive a card at registration, a card 1/2 way, & you may take a hit at the finish if you so desire. Who ever hits 21 will win the "pot" (given in Foot Rx gift certificate). Multiple winners will split the pot.

ANY ONE can walk/run, so please come on out!

Registration starts at 5:30pm. Race starts at 6:30pm.

Directions:

  • I-40 Exit 55 toward US-70/E Asheville/V a Hospital
  • Turn left onto Porters Cove Rd. (end of off ramp)
  • Turn right onto US-70 E/Tunnel Rd
    Continue to follow US-70 E
  • Turn left onto Warren Wilson Rd
  • Turn left onto Riceville Rd. Parking at Church on right just after Outward Bound School
  • Registration across street in field

  • Turn onto N. Mills River Rd. from Hwy 280

Youth Fast Twitch Track Club



Fast Twitch Track Club- (FTTC)

The FTTC is a non-profit USATF Youth Track and Field and Cross Country organization that offers youth athletes the opportunity to compete at the state, regional, and national levels. We seek to create a team-oriented environment with core values that are taught through training and are intended for use in everyday life. The Fast Twitch Track Club will focus on youth aged athletes, from 7-18, from the Western North Carolina region. We currently have athletes from the Buncombe, Transylvania, Haywood, Jackson and Henderson counties. USATF club membership # 13-0968.

Note: This message is for elementary and middle school aged kids. The middle school cross country season does not end until October 21st and these kids are welcome to join after the school season. The high school FTTC members have been meeting since September 3rd.


The 3 Core Values of the FTTC athletes:
  1. Sportsmanship: Ethos that a sport or activity will be enjoyed for its own sake, with proper consideration for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competiton.
  2. Teamwork: Healthy competition in groups can be used to motivate individuals and help the team, as well as the individual, excel.
  3. Work Ethic: A set of values based on hard work and diligence. It is also a belief in the moral benefit of work and its ability to enhance character.

From Asheville, NC and other cities via I 40
Take I 40 to exit 46A for I 26 East towards Hendersonville. Take I 26 east to Exit 40. Turn right off Exit 40 onto NC 280. Take NC 280 south 16 miles to US 64. Turn left onto US 64 and go 3.7 miles to the stop light. Turn right onto Crab Creek Rd and go 4.3 miles to DuPont Road. Turn right onto DuPont Rd. 0.7 miles on DuPont Road to a left on Sky Valley Road. Follow Sky Valley Road past the junction of Old CCC Road to the Guion Farm Access Area 1.6 miles on the right.

From Hendersonville, NC and other cities via I 26 
Take I 26 to exit 49B for US 64 west towards Hendersonville. Go 2.4 miles on US 64 to North Church Street/Business US 25 south. Turn left onto Church Street and go 0.6 south miles. Turn right onto Kanuga Road and go 11 miles (note that Kanuga Rd becomes Crab Creek Rd). Turn left onto DuPont Road. 0.7 miles on DuPont Road to a left on Sky Valley Road. Follow Sky Valley Road past the junction of Old CCC Road to the Guion Farm Access Area 1.6 miles on the right.

In addition, Thomas is Certifiedin Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment through the McKenzie Institute.

Come run & have a great time with some awesome people! Cyclocross people are FUN!

We're running on the Cyclocross Course for 20 minutes to complete as many (approximately) 1 mile loops as possible.

From the West:

· At the traffic light, turn left onto NC-9/Broadway Street.
· At the first traffic light, turn left onto Vance Avenue.

From the Montreat campus:
· Take Assembly Drive toward Black Mountain.
· At the stone Montreat gate, the street changes to Montreat Road (continue through).
· At the traffic light, the street changes to Broadway Street (continue through).
· Turn right at the second traffic light onto Vance Avenue.
· Continue through the four-way stop. The entrance to the campus will be on the right at 510 Vance Avenue. To access the soccer and softball fields, continue past the entrance to the next right.
