There was some trail racing that took place this past weekend!
Aaron Saft & David Workman were in action in Chattanooga, TN at the River Gorge 10.2 mile Race. Aaron won in a new course record 1:08:31 & Dave was the 2nd master behind another local who you may know, Jay Curwen. Awesome to see the local representation.
This past weekend also was the Dupont 12k Trail Race. Karen Ostergaard was the 2nd female overall! Shawn Bagley was 15th in 52:46. Dennis Duffy made it through in 1:08:52. Kate Seng ran 1:12:02. Albert Noah did a noble run with a friend to help her through her first trail race and finished 1:21:13. What a guy!
Melissa McCulloch ran the Colon Cancer Awareness 5k in Asheville, & finished second in 50-59 age group. Jason Luttrull finished in 33:42.

Montrail Demo Day March 30th
Come out March 30th to trail run in a pair of Montrails with no obligation to buy. We'll meet at the Rice Pinnacle Parking Lot at 6pm on the 30th.
Every one will have 2 shoes to choose from for the run. Available will be the Mountain Masochist & the Fairhaven.
We'll give directions for a 3-6 mile loop for you to test the shoes.
Every one who shows up will be entered in a raffle to win a free pair of Montrail Trail Running Shoes. Every one will also be given a free pair of Darn Tough Seamless socks and a coupon for 10% off Montrail shoes at Foot Rx Asheville if you like the shoes enough to purchase a pair.

Race Report March 19-20
Don McMahill is in action AGAIN! This guy is everywhere every weekend! He is amazing! Here are his results from the Cubs Run 5k at Meadowbrook School, Canton, NC on 3/19/11:

"See below for the link to the results of the North Georgia Adventure Race which I did this past weekend. The list on the right of the first page is the final results for all of the teams. If you click on the Leaderboard tab, you will see which teams got which checkpoints. You'll have to go through pages 2 and 3 (the link on the top right of the table) to see all of the checkpoints. The Results tab shows team ranking within each category. My team is "Will Race for Food", the only all female team.
In summary, my teammate, Stephanie Briggs, and I finished 13th of 36 teams and feel really good about it. We finished in 24.5 hours (9am on Saturday to 10:30am on Sunday with one hour lost for daylight savings time) and got 20 of the 25 checkpoints."

Race Report from March 12-13
Tanisha Mitchell, a student at Wellspring Academy in Brevard, NC. Tanisha just completed her first 5k last weekend and couldn't be happier. When Tanisha began her journey with Wellspring she could not walk the distances between her classes; now she has the confidence and capability to run 3.1 miles! Congrats Tanisha!
Jesse Warren ran the Tom King 1/2 Marathon in Nashville. The picture was with Tom King himself.
Melissa McCulloch ran the Sarasota half marathon on the 13th in Florida, while visiting friends and family. Her account is as follows, "It was an absolutely beautiful course, along the water, past the Ringling museum, over the Ringling bridge and through lovely older neighborhoods. It started and ended at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center. Had a pedestrian time of 2:12." Congrats for getting out there & getting it done!
We had some racers in the Asheville Catholic School Shamrock 5k & 10k on March 12th. A hilly course to say the least.
Keelin Schneider won the Women's 10k in 41:28.
David Workman was 2nd overall male in 38:42 & was the 1st master's.
Todd Gothberg ran 43:09 in the 10k. He was 8th overall, & 2nd in age group.
Rebecca Mayernick was 6th woman overall in the 10k, & 2nd in her age group with a time of 46:32.
Dennis Duffy ran 54:22 in the 10k. He was 63 out of 150 overall. 9 out of 12 in his age group.
Albert Noah had a PR running 55:43 in the 10k.
Cullen Hicks was 11th female overall & 1st in her age group in the 10k & ran 50:08.
Lynn Ray was 3rd in her age group & ran 1:04:23 in the 10k.
Jason Luttrull had a great race in the 10k running 1:11:39.
Kate Seng finished the Shamrock 5-k in 26:54. She placed second in her age group and 29th out of 206.

Race Report from March 5-6
Curtis Rowe ran a Boston Marathon Qualifier at the Little Rock Marathon in Arkansas. Curtis ran 3:06:16 finishing 32nd overall!
At the Reedy River 10k, Mark Driscoll finished 8th overall & ran a stellar 31:40. Bart Smith won his age group (65-69) & ran 42:40. His wife Eve ran 52:06. Ali Moore ran in the 5k & ran a PR 31:18.
Don McMahill was in action at the Ram Run 5k at Valley Springs Middle School. He finished 2nd in his Age Group & finished in 35:32.
