Race Report from 9-24 to 9-25

Melissa McCulloch ran the Ache Around the Lake 8k on Saturday and won her Age Group in 48 minutes! Curtis Rowe was 5th overall in 30:19.

Dennis Duffy sent the following report:
"I ran the Autism 5k on Saturday. Tough course with a 250 foot climb in mile two. I finished in 25:58, 46 out of 155 overall and 6 out of 9 in my Age Group."
Raylene Morrow ran the Autism 5k as well and finished 2nd in her Age Group.

Jesse Warren finished the Salem Lake 30k in Winston Salem.

Duncan Sharrits did the Hilly Hellacious metric century ride on Sunday in 4:15 and actually enjoyed it! Weird.

Cross Country Series Race #7 6k @ The Asheville School

Come to The Asheville School (directions below) on Thursday, Sept. 29th for our 7th race of the 2011 Cross Country Series. Registration will start at 5:30pm by the track. Race will start at 6:30pm. The course distance is 6k. Cost is $15 for adults & $10 for students (checks payable to Aaron Saft).

Directions:

From the South and Asheville Regional Airport (served by major airlines and regional carriers): I-26 West to I-40 West toward Knoxville, Exit 44.

From the North: US 19-23 (new I-26) South to I-240 West to I-40 West, Exit 44.

From the East and West: I-40 to Exit 44.

At Exit 44, turn left at stoplight and proceed one mile straight ahead past the hotels and shopping centers. Follow Asheville School signs to the driveway on the right. Follow the signs on campus to the athletic field house. The track is just passed the field house.

Race Report from Sept. 17-18

Some great results from the Asheville Citizen Times 1/2 Marathon:
David Workman was 5th overall & won the master's category in 1:21.
Todd Gothberg ran 1:28:23 & finished 27th overall.
Jeff Trantham ran 1:29.
Brian Simpson ran 1:29:29 and finished 31st.
Andy Brouwer set a new PR of 1:31:24.
Jesse Warren finished 1:36.
Rebecca Mayernick ran 1:37:52 and took 4th in her Age Group.
Cullen Hicks ran 1:47 & was 2nd in her Age Group, & 1st Grand Master!
Lance Martin paced the 1:50 group to a 1:48.
Albert Noah ran 1:58:02, 7 minutes faster than last year!
Dennis Duffy ran 1:58::16.
Bart Smith continues his amazing performances winning his age group.
Lydia Odell finished 3rd master, 2nd in her age group, & 20th overall running 1:39.
Tera Pruett ran 2:11:31.
Melissa McCulloch finished 10 minutes faster than last year in 2:15.

Lynn Ray ran the Asheville Citizen Times 5k in 27:38, which was faster than last year.

Curtis Rowe ran the Derby Dash 5k trail run Saturday in Columbus, NC in 19:02.

Tsali Frosty Foot 50k, 30k, 8k Update

Thank you all for your interest in the Frosty Foot event! The race will take place on Jan. 7th, 2012.

Just to update every one, registration will open on www.active.com on Oct. 1st at 10am. Entries will be limited to the 1st 100 in each of the 50k & 30k, & the 1st 50 in the 8k.

The race website should be up by that date as well with more information. Paper registration to follow soon there after. Complete details will be posted on the race website, & we will let you know as soon as that is available.

DIRECTIONS:
Take N. Mills River Road off Hwy 280 (1st right after Brevard Rd/Hwy 191 when heading towards Brevard). Drive 5 miles into Mills River Recreation Area & make a right onto Wash Creek Road, which is now paved for the first 1/4 mile or so. Follow this for several miles; this is FR 479 although a sign at the beginning used to say "5000". Turn left onto the first un-gated gravel road which has a concrete low-water bridge, and follow this 0.5 mile to the Trace Ridge trailhead and parking lot.

Race Report from Sept. 10-11




Melissa McCulloch (pictured w/ Foot Rx Shirt) was 7th out of 20 in her age group at the JBL 5k. Lynn Ray set a new 5k PR of 26:45 and finished 2nd in her Age Group. Dennis Duffy finished in 24:01 which put him 47/230 overall and 7/12 in his Age Group. Raylene Morrow ran 1 minute faster than last year finishing 1st in her Age Group in a time of 25:42. Don McMahill Race Walked the JBL Memorial 5K Sunday in 36:14 finishing 156 of 236.

Allie Hustead ran the Sunrise Run 10k in Morganton, NC. She was 4th overall and 1st female in 42:24.

BRR Team "SKIRTS - Sisterhood of Kindred Individuals Running Together Smiling - had a fabulous time at the race. Two Foot Rx ambassadors, Mary Koppenheffer and Tera Pruett were on the team. They finished with an overall time of 32:37:40, achieving a 9:25 per min. pace over the 208 miles. Team was women's mixed and the runners ranged from age 30 to 60.

Congrats to the Asheville Collective team compromised of Western NC boys with representatives from Foot Rx & Jus' Running. The team finished 1st overall & set a new course record by over an hour!

Save the Date!

Save the Date – Saturday, October 22-- The Four Seasons Running Club presents the Foot Rx 1st Annual Jump Off Rock 10K Race

The Four Seasons Running Club presents the Foot Rx 1st Annual Jump Off Rock 10K Race 9 a.m. – An out-and-back race that goes to the summit of Jump Off Rock in Laurel Park. This race starts and finishes at Jones Gap Baptist Church in Hendersonville. Cost is $20 if pre-registered by Oct. 15 and $25 day of the event. All proceeds after expenses go to Smart Start of Henderson County. Runners get free entry to Oktoberfest celebration later in the day. More info on Meetup, Facebook and soon at active.com.

Race Report

Curtis Rowe was 4th overall last weekend in the Lake Lure 10k Dam Run in 38:16.


Shawn Bagley was 4th overall in the Race to the Rock with a time of 23:28 last Sunday.


Justin Tebockhorst & Leah Nicholson each won their respective race at the Apple Festival 8k. Justin ran 26:45, while Leah ran 34:04. Beth Saft was 2nd overall in a very close race running 34:05. David Workman was 4th overall & ran 29:37 winning the master's division. Curtis Rowe was 7th overall coming in at 30:47. Dennis Duffy finished in 41:06 & 10th in his Age Group. Kate Seng took 5th Place in her Age Group at the Apple Festival 8k on Sat. in 44:55. Lynn Ray set a new PR running 47:43. Raylene Morrow finished 2nd in her Age Group.

When driving towards Flat Rock (South) on Main St. in Hendersonville, turn left (East) onto 4th Ave and continue into the Park. The Brick House will be on the left 1/4 mile after entering the park.

If driving on 64 West (towards Hendersonville off I-26), turn left on Harris St. (small sign for Jackson Park) & conitinue to Glover St. Make a left on Glover St, & enter the Park. Brick House will be 1/4 mile on the left.
