Race Report From 4/6 to 4/7/13

Chris Pruitt sent in this awesome race report after her HUGE win:

"I won first overall female in the Xterra Trail Series "Power to the Tower" Half Marathon in Kingsport, TN today! My time was 2:13, which sounds slow, but the course was beastly--crazy hilly and very technical. I took a hard fall at mile 5, so I'm nursing a bruised knee. Good thing for adrenaline--it got me through. It was one of those races where half a dozen people came across the finish line with bloody knees. Full of rocks, mud, roots, and steep switchbacks."

" I did the Jackrabbit Adventure Race in Hayesville, NC on March 30. My teammate, Stephanie Briggs, and I, team "Will Race for Food," came in 1st in the 2-person Open division, and 8th overall. We finished in 10hours and 56 minutes. (http://www.jackrabbitadventurerace.com/#!results, see the 12-hour results spreadsheet on the bottom right.)

The course was tough, with lots of climbing up and down steep hills, but we had a great time. My inov8's were awesome for all of the creek crossing we had to do."

• Melissa McCulloch rode the bike section. Here's her report:

"My team, the Biltmore Winos, had a blast.  One of the girls who did the bike leg came up with the team idea and we carried wine boxes on our backs with hoses to drink from and shirts saying Biltmore Winos.  it was a lot of fun and cannot wait to do another duathlon.   Weather was so much nicer than the marathon and biking on the west side was a lot of fun.  Rain stopped right before race started so we really lucked out.  Took me 54:00 to do the ride, stopped for a couple of minutes to admire the scenery and drink water (not wine)."
