Directions to Group Run for 9/16/13 - Mills River/Trace Ridge - 6:15pm












Directions to Trace Ridge:
  • Turn onto N. Mills River Rd. from Hwy 280 (Airport Rd./Boylston Hwy.) - New Ingles at light
  • Drive 5 miles on N. Mills River Rd. into Park
  • Once in Park, take 1st Right onto Service Rd. 479
  • In approximately 1.75 miles make a left across concrete bridge (1st road on left)
  • Continue up road to parking area (dead ends into parking)


We'll be running (prepare to get WET!):
  • Down to old reservoir
  • Right on Spencer Branch (7 creek crossings)
  • Short/easy loop will take a right on Service Road and return to parking - Longer/TOUGH loop proceed straight UP Spencer Branch
  • Long Loop - Right on Trace Ridge and return to Parking

Oct. $5 5k @ Fletcher Park


$5 5k to benefit Friends of Dupont Forest. This will be a Blackjack 5k Format. The amount of entries will be the "pot". You will receive a card at registration, a card 1/2 way, & you may take a hit at the finish if you so desire. Who ever hits 21 will win the "pot" (given in Foot Rx gift certificate). Multiple winners will split the pot.

ANY ONE can walk/run, so please come on out!

Registration starts at 5:30pm. Race starts at 6:30pm.

Mingle Night at Foot Rx with Physical Therapist THOMAS MINTON - SEPTEMBER 19 - 7PM
 
Each Month Foot Rx will host a "Mingle Night" at the shop. This will be a very informal gathering in which we will invite a special guest for you to speak with & get to know others in the community. This month, Thomas Minton, PT, CRTS, Cert. MDT will be present for all to talk to about running, training, technique/form, & other pertinent topics. This is not a formal talk, but rather a "gathering" with horderves & beverages in which any one can talk with Thomas at any point in the evening. This is a free event which will start at 7pm at Foot Rx. Please RSVP to aaron@footrxasheville.com so we know how much food & drink to purchase.
 
 

Here's a bit more about Thomas:

Thomas Minton has been a physical therapist focusing on thetreatment of running-related and sports injuries for over 15 years. Hismain focus of treatment has been treating sports injuries with a focus onendurance and adventure athletes. He is a Pose Method Certified Running Technique Specialist, a USA Track and Field Coach, and a Red Level Bike Fit Professional. In addition, Thomas is Certifiedin Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment through the McKenzie Institute.

Cross Country Race #3 - Montreat College 5k

Thurs., Sept. 12 is Race #3 of our Cross Country Series at Montreat College (see directions below). We will be running 5k.

Cost is $15 for adults & $10 for students. Register online (w/ a PayPal account) at www.wncracing.com
On-site registration starts at 5:30pm. Race starts at 6:30pm.

From the East: 
· On I-40 West, take Exit 64 (Black Mountain/Montreat).
· Turn right onto NC-9/Broadway Street.
· At the first traffic light, turn left onto Vance Avenue.
· At the four-way stop, continue through.  To access the soccer and softball fields, DO NOT enter where the Montreat College sign is, continue past the entrance to the next right.
From the West: 
· On I-40 East, take Exit 64 (Black Mountain/Montreat).
· At the traffic light, turn left onto NC-9/Broadway Street.
· At the first traffic light, turn left onto Vance Avenue.
· At the four-way stop, continue through.  To access the soccer and softball fields, DO NOT enter where the Montreat College sign is, continue past the entrance to the next right.
From the Montreat campus:
· Take Assembly Drive toward Black Mountain.
· At the stone Montreat gate, the street changes to Montreat Road (continue through).
· At the traffic light, the street changes to Broadway Street (continue through).
· Turn right at the second traffic light onto Vance Avenue.
· Continue through the four-way stop. The entrance to the campus will be on the right at 510 Vance Avenue. To access the soccer and softball fields, continue past the entrance to the next right.
